UNR Enrollment Up Three-Percent

Enrollment at the University of Nevada, Reno rose three-percent over the spring semester, university officials said Wednesday.

Officials said 15,534 students registered for classes that began in August.

Additionally, they said populous Clark County is contributing to the university's growth. Twelve percent of all UNR students and 20-percent of freshman list Clark County in southern Nevada as their place of residence, officials said.

Administrators predicted enrollment, which reached 15,000 for the first time last spring, will hit 20,000 within six to eight years.
