Washoe County sheriff's deputies arrested a suspect early Monday in the weekend shooting of another man outside a Sun Valley convenience store.
Louis Joel Ramirez-Rico, 34, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. and
charged with attempted murder and battery with substantial bodily
harm for the shooting Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The victim, Chris Carpenter, 48, of Sun Valley, was shot in the torso. He was being treated at Renown Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.
Investigators don't believe the shooting was gang related. Ramirez-Rico was being held at the Washoe County Jail on $82,500 bail, the sheriff's office said.
An investigation continued Monday.
