CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A company that has won approval to build one of Carson City's largest casinos is being sued for more than $260,000 by the owner of the resort's proposed site.
In its lawsuit filed earlier this month in Carson City District Court, Gardnerville-based RIDL accuses Las Vegas-based Golden Gaming Inc. of breaking a contract, failure to pay rent and damages.
Golden Gaming won approval from the city last fall to build the $100 million Sierra Gold Casino at the corner of U.S. 50 East and the Carson City freeway.
A company spokeswoman had no comment on the suit or whether the
company plans to ever build the resort.
Lynn Hettrick of RIDL contends his company hasn't received payments from Golden Gaming as was agreed upon in a 30-year lease signed in 2005.
Hettrick was a Republican assemblyman from 1992 to 2006 representing Douglas County and parts of Carson City. He runs RIDL
with his wife, Arla, and son, Andy.
A court date for the suit has not been set.
Golden Gaming operates casinos in Pahrump and Colorado and taverns across Nevada.
