Work should begin by the end of the month on a new traffic light at Highway 395 and Stephanie Way in Minden.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is paying for work on the intersection, while Douglas county is paying for the light itself. It will similar to the traffic signal at nearby Johnson Lane.

Southbound vehicles won't have to stop. Northbound traffic will be regulated to allow vehicles to turn left onto Stephanie, or from Stephanie onto the highway.

More than 6,000 people signed a petition demanding the traffic signal after 17-year-old Bridget Noel Chambers was killed at the intersection in July 2005.
