Residents of a northwest Reno neighborhood are organizing opposition to a proposed casino near the corner of south McCarran Boulevard and West Fourth Street.
The Eldorado and Club Cal-Neva are seeking master plan zoning changes for the proposed new Turf Club _ a 47,000 square-foot casino with 400-500 slot machines, a sports book and restaurant.
A neighborhood advisory panel opposes the project, citing concerns about traffic and safety, property values and its location less than a half-mile from a school.
A representative of the Turf Club says the residents' fears are overstated and that the project would complement the area.
