The 36-member Urban Search and Rescue Team is shoring the fire-damaged Mizpah Hotel building.
Joe DuRousseau, Special Operations Division Chief, said members of the team have emergency building shoring and confined space rescue training. DuRousseau said inside the Mizpah, walls are charred and some have collapsed.
Team Director Jim Bolton said crews are also finding holes in the floors.
Crews also wore masks with hepa-filters to protect them from dust inside the structure, DuRousseau said. He said, as of Sunday, shoring was finished on the first and second floors of the three story building.
A news release from the Fire Department said the team's operations could wrap up early as Monday.
