James Kevin Mack Sr. will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being designated a habitual criminal.
Washoe District Judge Steven Kosach imposed the sentence Wednesday on the 44-year-old Reno man based on his five prior felony convictions in Washoe County.
Mack's latest conviction came in June, when a jury found him guilty of sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping and burglary.
In that case, authorities said he broke into his ex-girlfriend's home, beat her and kidnapped her. He held her against her will and raped her for several days before she got away and went to authorities.
Prosecutors said Mack's record includes convictions for drugs and crimes of violence.
