Undercover detectives making a drug bust in Reno and Sparks seized more than seven ounces of crystal methamphetamine. They also recovered a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle and five handguns, including one stolen from the Sparks Police Department.
The seizure began with the arrest in Sparks Wednesday of 24-year-old Vimael Gomez-Tapia of Reno. Police say he was in possession of about two ounces of meth in the 1400 block of G Street in Sparks.
The investigation also prompted the arrest of 43-year-old Marcelo Pacheco of Reno and the search of his residence in Reno at Park Vista Court.
In addition to the gun reported stolen by Sparks police, another had been reported stolen from Churchill County. The detectives also seized five-and-one-half five ounces of meth there and more than 18-hundred-dollars cash.
Both men face numerous drug charges. Pancheco also was charged
with possession of a stolen firearm and a short-barrelled shotgun.
Both are being held in the Washoe County Jail, Pacheco in lieu of 165,000 dollars bail and Gomez-Tapia on 120,000 dollars bail.
