The Sparks City Council has told the city manager to invite the attorney general's staff to review the city attorney's legal opinions regarding the settlement of a lawsuit with developers of a controversial casino-resort that would be built north of Sparks.
The scope of the review will be limited because of a recent lawsuit filed by John Ascuaga's Nugget casino resort against Sparks and developers of the Lazy 8 Ranch.
The state officials will review City Attorney Chet Adams' decision not to seek an outside legal opinion on the matter.
Adams said the council didn't ask for another opinion until after it voted September 20th to authorize him to settle an earlier lawsuit filed by the resort's developers out of court.
