Reno's casinos weren't so lucky in August; Casino winnings for that month fell 2.3 percent, according to the state Gaming Control Board. The dip happened as statewide casino winnings climbed. According to the Association Press, statewide casino winnings for August were $1.06 billion, breaking a record for that month.

Gary Carano, General Manager of the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, said "airport traffic" and construction in town are having an impact.

Chris Chrystal, Media Relations Manager for the Nevada Commission Tourism, said she's not concerned about a two percent drop. "Over the long haul, tourism and gambling goes up in Nevada," she said.

Carano said revenues are already rebounding at the Silver Legacy. "In September we had a great hotel occupancy and room revenue -- our best ever room revenue month," he said.
