School District Pays $1.3 for Cost Overrun

Washoe County School District trustees have agreed to pay a contractor $1.3 million for cost overruns at the new Damonte Ranch High School.

The settlement approved Wednesday brings the total overrun costs to nearly $2 million.

Q&D Construction claimed steel designs weren't provided on time, delaying the building project.

The new high school opens next week.

In April, the board approved a $600,000 payment to keep the project on schedule after delays caused by winter storms.
