New Information on Murder Victim's Background

Authorities said they had been trying to contact murder victim 37-year-old Guy Edward Farmer because he allegedly threatened an officer. Farmer's body was discovered in the Antelope Mine near the Nevada-California border last week.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office said Farmer supposedly threatened Sgt. Tom Green. Undersheriff Mike Haley said Green fatally shot an acquaintance of Farmer's last year. Authorities said the man Green shot was armed.

Haley also said Farmer had been arrested for attempted murder and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff's office said there are several individuals of interest in the case. They do not consider Green a person of interest, but will question him, Haley said.

Authorities are not commenting on how Farmer was killed.

A Sheriff's Office news release stated: "(Farmer) had recently been released from the Washoe County Detention Center in July of this year..."
