A homeless man was arrested early Monday after allegedly stabbing a man and his son during an attempted break-in at a vacant apartment, police said.
Raymond Nelson, 69, was allegedly trying to get into the apartment when a nearby resident confronted him.
Authorities said Nelson stabbed the resident several times near his throat and neck and on the hand. The resident, in turn, hit Nelson on the head with his cane.
Police said the victim went home and awoke his adult son, who ran down the street and tried to detain Nelson. He, too, was stabbed several times in the arm.
None of the injuries were life threatening, police said.
Nelson was arrested and booked on two counts of battery with a deadly weapon, police said.
