The settlement of a lawsuit with the developers of the Lazy 8 casino apparently has finished the issue.
Council member Ron Schmitt, who opposes both the casino and the settlement, had urged reconsideration.
Instead, Schmitt says he has asked the council to vote in two weeks for the state attorney general to review recent opinions from the city attorney.
Schmitt said last week that he wanted the council to review the decision to settle a lawsuit allowing the casino because City Attorney Chet Adams advised council members that they could not hire outside attorneys to help with the case without his permission.
Schmitt said with different advice, the council might have voted to hire another lawyer to review the settlement rather than vote to settle.
