The FBI and Food and Drug Administration investigators are executing two search warrants today on troubled spinach growers in the Salinas Valley area.
FBI agents are searching the premises at Growers Express in Salinas and Natural Selection Foods in San Juan Batista.
The US Attorney's Office for Northern California says there still is no indication that leaf spinach was deliberately or intentionally contaminated.
But federal authorities are investigating allegations that some spinach growers and distributors may not have taken all the necessary steps to make sure their spinach was safe before it made it's way back to store shelves.
The tainted spinach was targeted by authorities after it sickened nearly 200 people in several states and was blamed for the death of one person.
