RENO - The month of March came through for the eastern Sierra snowpack. The final snowpack survey in the Eastern Sierra shows the snowpack levels at about 80 percent of normal, which federal hydrologist say is not bad compared to how things were looking in January.

Down here in the Truckee Meadows, TMWA's Senior Coordinator of Water Supply and Reservoirs, Bill Hauck, said today, "our water supply is in decent shape for this year."

Hauck added that recent weather has improved the outlook with the big storms in early in March followed by smaller storms throughout the month and cool temperatures that have kept the snowpack run-off minimal.

"At this time, TMWA does not expect to use any of its drought reserves this summer, but encourages wise water use throughout the year," Hauck said.
