A man whose murder conviction was overturned by the Nevada Supreme Court has pleaded guilty to the killing four years ago.

Brandon Douglas Allan pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon for the Oct. 22, 1999 shooting death of Kellie Parry.

Allan also agreed to accept two consecutive life prison terms with the possibility of parole after 20 years and not to appeal the case, prosecutors said.

Allan was convicted by a jury in 2000 and sentenced to two consecutive life terms will possible parole after 40 years.

But the Nevada Supreme Court threw out the conviction and ordered a new trial after finding that police violated his Miranda rights during questioning.

Formal re-sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29 before Washoe District Judge James Hardesty.

The judge can either accept the negotiated penalty or sentence him to 50 years in prison with possible parole after 20 years, prosecutors said.
