A California biker headed for this weekend's Street Vibrations in Reno was killed when his bike was hit by a pickup and an 18-wheeler on Interstate 80.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the cyclist, Terry Lee Vannoy, 54 of Huntington Beach, California was eastbound near Verdi when the Harley-Davidson went down and was struck by two vehicles.
Eastbound lanes were closed for several hours. Westbound traffic
was stopped near Boomtown for about half an hour to allow eastbound
drivers to turn around safely. Eastbound traffic was routed to the
Gold Ranch exit and Old Highway 40 through Verdi.
Troopers say the cyclist was not speeding and alcohol did not
appear to be a factor.
