Police are pledging renewed efforts to solve a murder mystery involving two Reno children who vanished 14 years ago Saturday.

Charles Chia, 8, and his 6-year-old sister, Jennifer, were last seen Oct. 18, 1989 on their way home from school. Their skeletal remains were found in a shallow grave in July 1990 near Portola, Calif.

In a joint news release, Reno police and the FBI issued a plea for the public's assistance in the case.

Although no one has ever been charged, authorities think the case eventually will be solved because of advances in forensic science.

Investigators think some individuals might have pertinent information about the case and have asked that they contact them.

Authorities are particuarly interested in information about suspicious persons or vehicles that day in the Timber Hills apartment area where the children lived
