The average price for gasoline in Nevada fell 4 cents per gallon over the past month to a statewide average of $1.74 for self-serve unleaded, AAA of Nevada said Wednesday.
Prices vary widely from one end of the state to the other, AAA officials said.
The average price in Las Vegas has dropped 9 cents to $1.64 while Elko has seen gas prices rise 17 cents a gallon to an average of $1.79.
Prices at the pumps in Reno went up 4 cents to $1.79 to share the state high with Elko. But in neighboring Sparks, prices dipped 3 cents to $1.74. Carson City saw prices increase a penny to $1.75 a gallon.
Nevada remains far above the national average of $1.52, up a penny from last month. It's the highest national average for July in three years, AAA said.
