Parents and concerned neighbors in South Reno who have been fighting to make a dangerous intersection safer will soon see a response to their efforts.
The Reno City Council approved the purchase and installation of in-pavement crosswalk flashing lights at the intersection of South Meadows Parkway and Evergreen Street, after two local teens were hit and killed by drivers in that area. The lights will be a temporary safety measure until permanent traffic signals can be installed.
Crews will begin to install the lights within the next two weeks, and should be completed by the end of September.
