The mother and grandmother of two Carson City
children locked up and starved for several years have pleaded
guilty to multiple felony counts, following a similar plea by the
children's' stepfather last week.
District Court Judge Bill Maddox accepted guilty pleas from the
mother, Regina Rios, and the grandmother, Esther Rios, and
scheduled sentencing for November seventh. The children are
expected to testify at the sentencing proceedings.
The mother could face up to 55 years in prison while the
grandmother could face up to 70 years behind bars.
Esther Rios pleaded to two child abuse-neglect counts and two
false imprisonment charges. Regina Rios pleaded to two
abuse-neglect counts and one false imprisonment charge.
The children's' stepfather, Tomas Granados, pleaded guilty last
week to false imprisonment and to child abuse, neglect or
endangerment. He faces up to 35 years in prison.
