Teen Killed in Head-on Collision

A teen driver was killed in a head-on collision on US 395 Tuesday afternoon, causing the closure of the highway at Parr Blvd.

The unidentified girl was southbound on the highway when her Oldsmobile sedan crossed the median and struck a northbound van driven by Janis Ambjorson-Reid, age 34 of Reno.

The collision killed the teen and sent Ambjorson-Reidand two passengers form the mini-van to Washoe Medical Center with injuries.

Traffic was diverted onto the off-ramp and then back onto the freeway. Southbound traffic is not affected, according to Sgt. Sylvia Redmond of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
