Washoe County sheriff's deputies were looking for an armed man who robbed a woman and her daughter Wednesday at their home west of Reno.

The woman had gone to pick up her teenage daughter and the two were returning to their Mogul home where they were confronted by the suspect around 9:30 a.m., the sheriff's office said.

The man pointed a handgun at them and demanded their purses.

He then fled in a silver or gray newer model four-door sedan with out of state plates, authorities said.

Investigators said the man apparently forced his way in the home through a back door when the woman left. Her teenage son was sleeping inside the home at the time.

The suspect was described as a black man, 45-50 years old, 5-8 and around 200 pounds, with graying black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

Authorities said he was clean shaven and neatly dressed.
