Nevadans Witness History on the Big Screem
Thousands of northern Nevadans watched the Inauguration of Barack Obama on TV today and like those in Washington were moved by what they saw and heard.

A chance the inauguration playing on the big screen didn't pack the theatre in the Student Union at the University of Nevada , but as the time for the oath of office and the address drew near, there were several dozen watching.

For some it was an opportunity to witness history. "It's like I'm thinking about what I'm going to tell my children what I was doing this day in college.," said student Nicole Dion. "It feels so momentous."

"I couldn't get by pretending this was a normal day," gushed Reno resident Jill Trent. So, she and her daughter took the morning to come to the university to watch. It was something they wanted to share.
"Pretty cool," chimed Katie Trent. Pretty cool, indeed.

Few inaugural speeches make it into the history books and with a string of acclaimed speeches already behind him, Obama had set the bar high.

University President Dr. Milton Glick, watching with some of his students observed that the speech wasn't salted with applause lines, though it didn't seem to matter. There were tears in some of the students eyes, he said, "and some of the rest of us, too."

"The grandeur and the significance of this occasion just overwhelms any words the president could have had today.," said Glick. "No one could live up to the implications of the election we've just seen."

The moment clearly moved many who gathered on the mall in Washington. Three thousand miles away watching their reaction on the big screen, some felt a part of history as well.
"It was just the most amazing thing I've ever seen," said student Miranda Moore. "To see the people with tears in their eyes and to feel the same way they felt was just amazing."
