RENO - The Sparks City Council Monday approved new budget cuts that will lead to 35 city employees being laid off.

No police officers or firefighters are included in those layoffs.

Some things that are safe after the cuts are the beach at Sparks Marina, and two swimming pools, deer park and oppio.

The new cuts are expected to save $2.7 million.
