About 12-thousand people are expected to attend the
Veterans of Foreign Wars national convention through Thursday in
Reno.
The event at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center features speeches
tomorrow by Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald
Rumsfeld.
Rumsfeld also will be honored at a banquet tomorrow night along
with country musician Charlie Daniels.
The V-F-W's national council earlier supported President Bush's
war on terror by approving a resolution calling for U-S forces to
remain in Iraq in sufficient numbers until Iraqi forces can provide
security.
V-F-W spokesman Jerry Newberry says the nonpartisan group
traditionally has invited members of the presidential
administration in power to address the national gathering.
He notes President Clinton and his cabinet members addressed
past national gatherings.
