The Reno City Council has approved a new traffic light on a busy street where two teenage girls have been struck and killed by motorists since October.
Council members voted Wednesday to spend $400,000 for the light
after hearing testimony from parents of students at nearby Diamond
Diamond Elementary School in south Reno.
Pedestrian Amanda Reins, 15, was killed in October while
bicyclist Linda Foldi, 13, died Aug. 15. Both accidents occurred on
South Meadows Parkway.
