I stand by my comment. Do something more worthwhile with your time. Your handle "cantfixstupid" probably sadly sums up your attitude with regard to the public. you can get a post cert. in 6 months....most of us have far more college time than that. "expecting" you all to solve a problem? thats the job you signed on to. dont like it.....find another profession

NRS 484.445, which is adopted by RMC 1.04.015 is the code Peter is looking for. Jimmy, you need to listen to the story again. 4 cops were sitting on a car that had just been stolen because some egg-head left it running un-attended. I don't care if you all leave your cars running, but as a tax payer I do have a problem with people acting so foolishly and then expecting the police to come and solve the problem they created. Don't think it could happen to you?-check out the RGJ from 1/6--man uses cragislist to recover car. How was it stolen? Gee, he left it running "for just a minute" while he went into the store. Finally, Peter, call RPD and ask how many tickets they give for this, or call the city court to see how many tickets they process for this. When you get the answer, take the time to post an apology for jumping to conclusions.

During a time when we all are strapped for cash one way or another, cops are nothing but a thorn in good citizens sides! Instead of complaining that we are taking your men away from more necessary "duties", stop wasting both your time and ours and quit writing such tickets! I'm positive that cops are out there warming up their vehicles in the early morning hours, and I think this "law" is b.s. because if they are gonna do it and not fine themselves, then its not right that they fine me, for doing something that shouldn't be determined "illegal", simply because they don't have any money and are looking for ways to get some. What an abuse of power! I'm sick and tired of being treated like a criminal.

How many cops does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Section 10.60.110 Ignition keys in unattended vehicle. Its a Sparks city code. But try as I might I couldn't find a Reno city code for it.

Another way to drum up revenues. Break the backs of already financially strapped citizens. I hope RPD doesn't need any community support any time in the near future.

So what law is VanDiest quoting that is being violated or is he making up his own? So a car is found running....IF in fact this is illegal, why would it take 4 cops? One is all that should be needed. If people want to take the chance of getting their car stolen while warming on a cold morning LET THEM DO IT and go do something more worthy of your attention. Mr. VanDiest....if the car is stolen, then it becomes your job. If you have a distaste for that a new profession might be in order. 50 stolen cars in a basin of a quarter million or so isn't a lot. Quit crying.

Well guess what if you in law enforcement are driving around looking for unattended cars running you people should be fined for not doing your jobs. Go find some real crime. As for me I will continue to run my car unattended where I want and I even do it while i fill up at the gas station.
