A group of pilots is suing Washoe County over growth near Spanish Springs airport north of Reno.
The Spanish Springs Pilots Association alleges county officials are jeopardizing public safety and trying to force them out by pushing for new development around the airport.
The group filed a lawsuit in April, asking the court to force the county to notify the Federal Aviation Administration of plans to build homes around the airport.
A lawyer for the pilots says the county is required to tell the FAA of development plans near a public airport so a study can be conducted to assess potential risks.
