An 18-year-old Marine from the Reno area has become
the latest Nevadan killed in combat in Iraq.
Military officials say Lance Corporal Jeremy Long of Sun Valley
died Thursday in Al Anbar Province.
Long was a 2005 Spanish Springs High School graduate who
belonged to the football, wrestling and swim teams.
His coaches describe him as a hard worker and team player who
couldn't wait to join the Marines.
Long, based in Twentynine Palms, California, visited his former
teachers and coaches before he was deployed to Iraq in February.
They say Long was excited to be in the military and had grown up
a lot since he graduated.
Long is survived by his mother, Katheleen Hamilton, and father,
