SPANISH SPRINGS, Washoe County -- Washoe County Sheriff's deputies are engaged in a standoff with a man in Spanish Springs on Veronica Avenue.
As a precaution, nearby Spanish Springs High School was in a state of lock-down for part of the afternoon. Washoe County School District officials let students go home at around 2:15 p.m.
Authorities tell KOLO News Channel 8 the man in question is barricaded in his brother's residence, where he has been living for a year. He has a gun and has fired at least eight rounds, but no one has been hurt.
The man is described by sheriff's deputies as possibly suicidal. They are currently communicating with the man holding the gun.
