According to a new study released by the California Automobile Association (AAA), Reno and Tahoe are going to be the hot spots this Memorial Day weekend.
And that's great news for our local economy.
Thousands of people are expected to walk under the Reno arch this weekend. So many people that hotels like Harrah's are already selling out.
And hotels like the Hyatt in Incline Village. This afternoon the lobby was packed with people getting an early start for the weekend.
According to AAA, 300,000 Nevada residents and 4.8 million Californians are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home.
Hyatt employees hope this just the beginning.
"We don't just have regulars. We'll have new people to the Tahoe area for the summer," says Brian Sbrocco, Hyatt Director of Marketing.
If you are planning on traveling to the lake or stay here downtown Reno, call and make reservations because room are selling out fast.
