Prosecutors have cleared a 39-year-old Reno woman who shot and wounded a man she caught vandalizing her van in March in downtown Reno.
Washoe County District Attorney Richard Gammick says the woman won't be prosecuted because she acted in self-defense.
Instead, prosecutors expect to charge the man, 23-year-old Karan-Vir Singh, with destruction of property or tampering with a motor vehicle.
Gammick declines to identify the woman.
Singh was shot once in the chest after the woman confronted him in the parking lot of the Nelson Building, a University of Nevada, Reno facility on West Second Street. He has since recovered from the injuries.
Prosecutors say the woman, a mother of four, obtained a concealed weapon permit and the handgun after she was a domestic violence victim.
