Washoe School District Police are actively chasing leads with the intent of making vandals who targeted an elementary school pay for their actions.
By early this afternoon, almost all evidence of a widespread graffiti attack at Sun Valley Elementary had been erased. Maintenance crews and volunteers began painting over the tagged walls, and boarding up broken windows at 7:00 am.
They say the senseless attack will add another five to 10 thousand dollars to the district's already-strained budget. That’s money the district plans to recoup from the culprits once they are caught. Sun Valley Elementary is on a year-round schedule and students are on break. All the repairs should be complete before they return December, 1st.
Secret Witness is offering one-thousand dollars for information that leads to an arrest in this case. To leave a tip call 322--4900.
