Suspect In Sparks Rape Faces Another Charge

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) - A trucker already accused of rapes in
Nevada and western Washington is now a suspect in the rape of a
9-year-old girl at Central Washington University.

University police say DNA tests have linked 50-year-old Richard Bunch, from Malaga, Wash., to the girl's July rape in the school's Japanese Garden.

Bunch was already jailed in Washoe County, Nev., for investigation in the rape of a 13-year-old developmentally disabled girl in Sparks. Police said he assaulted the girl after approaching her at the Sparks Marina in July and luring her into his semi-truck.

Police say he was tracked down through a subsequent cell phone call to the girl. Sparks police say they provided a DNA sample from Bunch that matched the sample from the Lacey victim.

Bunch also is charged in the April rape and robbery of a 20-year-old student at St. Martin's University in Lacey, Wash.

Kittitas County Prosecutor Greg Zempel tells the Daily Record of Ellensburg that he plans to charge Bunch with first-degree rape and
other charges.
