Police and sheriff's deputies are searching for an 18-year-old inmate who escaped Thursday afternoon from the Washoe County Jail.

Anthony Tyler was at the jail on charges of burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle. Helicopters circled the sky most of the afternoon in search of Tyler. On the ground, tracking teams with deputies and K-9 units canvassed nearby neighborhoods.

A jail spokeswoman says Tyler was last seen shortly after 3:00 p.m. He was in a low-restriction area of the jail, being monitored by a civilian work crew supervisor. Tyler managed to use some tools to cut through a fence.

Anthony Tyler is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Deputies say Tyler's last address was on Senno Way in Reno. Deputies say they found his inmate uniform so they believe he has changed clothing.

If you've seen Tyler, call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
