SPARKS - Sparks Police say two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the rail city.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex between El Rancho Drive and Clear Acre Lane.

Police say there was a fight, and two people were shot. SPD says 22-year-old Michael Earl was shot in the leg, and a 17-year-old male was shot in the abdomen -- their injuries were non-life-threatening and both were treated and released from the hospital.

SPD says a van that fled the scene was located by officers and two people inside were arrested -- Deandrae Brown and Stefan Howard of Reno. Brown is accused of committing the shooting and will face two counts of battery with a deadly weapon.

Howard is being charged with three counts of child endangerment. Police say Howard was found driving the alleged getaway van, and three kids were found inside with the suspects. Police say two of the kids are teens and one is a 2-year-old. The todler is Howard's son, SPD says.

The kids found in the van are staying with family members, Police say.

Police say Brown was identified as the shooter by witnesses, and a handgun was found in the van.
