Police say the man who drowned yesterday in Pyramid Lake north of Reno has been identified as 28-year-old Miguel Pina-Padilla of Phoenix.
Washoe County Coroner Vern McCarty says the cause of death was drowning.
Pina-Padilla was reported missing at sundown. His body was
discovered by rescue workers about two hours later.
Pina-Padilla's companions in the boat told officials that he
decided to take off his life jacket and swim the rest of the way
when the boat was about 40 yards from the western shoreline off
Pelican Point.
His body was found near the area where he disappeared in about
five feet of water.
