Court Upholds Conviction in 2002 Officer Death

The state supreme court has upheld the conviction of a local woman who killed a Reno Police Officer.

The high court agreed that Anna Marie Jackson caused the death of Officer Mike Scofield 4 years ago, when she pulled her vehicle onto Mill Street, striking his motorcycle.

The jury found Jackson guilty of having a prohibited amount of marijuana residue in her blood at the time of the crash. Jackson's defense had argued the judge gave the jury faulty instructions.

Jackson was sentenced to 2 years in prison, but she's been free on bond, pending her appeal.
