The effort to bring more tourists to rural Nevada just received a huge financial boost.
The Nevada Commission on Tourism is now giving out more than a million dollars to help smaller communities lure in visitors to such events as the Donkey Races.
Some of the recipients include the Winnemucca Convention Authority, which is getting $8,500 for a TV ad campaign and Fallon's Tourism Agency is getting $10,000 for magazine ads promoting bird watching.
However, the grants also require a match of either funds or work hours, from the recipients.
