Police say the man who robbed a fast-food restaurant Monday morning may also be responsible for setting fire to a local check-cashing place this weekend.
Officers arrested Bernardo Cruz-Mosquera in connection with an attempted robbery at the McDonald's on Kietzske Lane. Detectives believe Mosquera is also the man who partially burned the Dolex Dollar Express on South Wells Avenue Sunday afternoon.
The clerk tells News Channel 8 that the suspect walked into the business and demanded cash, then set the place on fire with a small can of flammable liquid when the clerk refused. The clerk says he jumped through a window to escape the flames.
When police captured Mosquera today, they say he smelled of gasoline.
