With traditional forms of radiation, an entire area of a patient's body is blanketed with radiation, causing a lot of side-effects. With Tomo-Therapy, treatment is much more precise, using constant CT scans to monitor the exact location and size of a tumor. It can be used to fight many kinds of cancer. Only two-percent of hospitals in the nation offer Tomo-Therapy.
Dr. Rost at Renown says Tomo-Therapy is a better option for patients because it cuts down on side-effects, can treat more tumors at the same time, and has a shorter treatment time. He says it can offer hope to patients who have run out of other options.
