Quick Work on Cory Canyon Fire

US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Reno Firefighters were all called to a brushfire, shortly before 1PM on Friday.

The fire spread to cover as much as 20 acres before crews fighting it were able to get it under control. Several very large houses were threatened for a time, on Granite Ridge Court, in Washoe Valley, and residents were briefly evacuated.

Firecrews had the blaze under control by 3PM, thanks to the water tenders and small air tankers that quickly responded to the area.
