Douglas County deputies responded to a report of vandalism at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Douglas Avenue in Minden, Nevada early Tuesday morning. The caller had discovered that the church had been tagged with graffiti, and a passenger van belonging to the church had all four tires slashed.

The graffiti included profane remarks about God, the numbers 666, upside down crosses and references to Satan.

The caller told police they'd seen a two-tone late 80's or early 90's SUV leave the church parking lot at a high rate of speed, just before they discovered the vandalism.

Deputies checked the other churches throughout the Carson Valley and discovered similar damage and graffiti to five other churches. United Methodist Church on Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, St. Gall's Catholic Church on Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, Day Springs Christian Assembly on Tillman Lane in Gardnerville, Hilltop Community Church on Sunridge Drive in northern Douglas County and Shepherd Sierra Church also located in northern Douglas County.

Deputies also found graffiti at Douglas High School in Minden, and at the Ironwood Town Homes, near the school.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Department at 775-782-9911 or those wishing to remain anonymous may call Secret Witness at 775-7827463. A reward of up to $1,000.00 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
