A man accused of kidnapping and raping four women in the Reno-Sparks area killed himself in jail hours before his trial was to begin in Washoe District Court.
The district attorney's office says 40-year-old Ernie Holyon
Toledo was found dead in his jail cell shortly before 2 a-m.
His trial was to begin today on 13 felony counts of sexual
assault, kidnapping and attempted murder for the attacks that
occurred between 2001 and 2004.
Authorities say he faced multiple life prison terms if
convicted.
The victims say Toledo drove them out to a deserted road, saying
he wanted to see the lights of the city. But once there,
authorities say he turned violent.
Authorities say D-N-A evidence eventually linked the attacks.
