Washoe County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man, suspected of burglarizing a home in the upscale Montreux subdivision. 24-year-old Bryan Vernon Peterson is suspected of breaking into a house in the gated community on May 22nd and stealing jewelry worth more than 100-thousand dollars.
Detectives were able to track some of the stolen jewelry to local pawn shops and develop information about the suspect. Peterson is facing charges that range from burglary to grand larceny. The majority of the jewelry has since been returned to its owners.
Detectives tell Newschannel 8 that because of the proximity of this crime to the site of the still unsolved Murders of an elderly couple in their Montreux home earlier this spring they have investigated a possible link, and found no evidence to suspect that Peterson was involved.
