Maya Miller passed away at her Washoe Valley ranch home yesterday. Her daughter said Miller had been in failing health for several months.
Maya Miller championed liberal causes for decades, and even donated millions of dollars of her inherited wealth, to both state- and national-level groups.
Miller's activism landed her on President Nixon's "enemies
list" during the Vietnam War era.
She also made a run for the US Senate in 1974, but lost a surprisingly close primary election to now-Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
