23-Year-Old Dies After Hunting Rifle Discharges

SUTCLIFFE, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a 23-year-old Sun Valley man is dead after an apparent accidental shooting in a truck near Pyramid Lake.

Paiute Tribal Police Department Sgt. Steve Miller says the man and older brother were apparently traveling on a hunting excursion when the shooting happened Saturday morning.

Miller says the FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs are investigating.

Authorities have not released either the man's name or his brother's.

Miller says the shooting happened on a gravel road, and the brother drove to a highway to get better cell phone reception.

Miller says the men were hunting antelope using a high-powered rifle.

Miller says the 23-year-old was shot as he sat in the passenger seat of the truck.
