A Fallon man was killed and an infant was hospitalized with severe head injuries following a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 50 two miles west of Fallon, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said David Penn, 25, was westbound when he came upon a
slower moving vehicle.
After passing, he changed lanes, entered a broadside skid and
slid northwest off the north edge of the road and struck two power
poles.
Penn was taken to Banner Churchill Community Hospital where he
was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon.
A 1-year-old boy was in a child safety seat but was taken to
Banner, then to Washoe Medical Center in Reno with life-threatening
head injuries.
Matthew Nergaard, 22, was treated at the Fallon hospital for non
life-threatening injuries. He and Penn were not wearing seatbelts.
Investigators suspect alcohol was involved.
